To ask the Secretary of State for Education how many staff in his Department were made redundant in (a) 2010-11, (b) 2011-12 and (c) 2012-13; and how many such staff received payments in lieu of notice.
- Answer

Since 2010, the Department has not made any staff compulsorily redundant, but has agreed voluntary early releases. These releases contribute to making a reduction in the Department's admin budget of 50% in real terms, saving £176 million a year by March 2015.
