All Batch 1 Offshore Patrol Vessels remain in service with the Royal Navy.
The Ministry of Defence has received multiple expressions of interest to purchase the vessels once they leave service, which it is considering.

We are closely monitoring the drought in Uruguay, and have updated our Travel Advice. Rainfall since 8 July has increased water reserves, but dams are still only approximately 7 percent full. The Government of Uruguay has taken emergency measures, including suspending VAT on bottled water and providing free bottled water to vulnerable people, and recognises that longer term work is needed. The British Embassy in Montevideo is in close contact with Uruguay's National Sanitation Company, OSE, and is exploring opportunities for UK commercial expertise to support Uruguay to build the modern infrastructure, technical capacities and strategic resilience needed in the longer-term.

UK officials regularly discuss illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing with the Uruguayan Government and it was one of the topics raised during the Uruguayan President's visit to the UK in May 2022. Managing and maintaining fish stocks in the Southwest Atlantic is a shared responsibility. The UK is expanding and enhancing our efforts to manage fisheries sustainably, protect ecosystems and combat IUU fishing at an international scale through our engagement in regional and international organisations, including the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation. We will continue to support approaches that will secure long-term sustainable management of high seas fisheries.

We are constantly reviewing suitable markets to identify where the appointment of a Trade Envoy can be of greatest benefit to the Government’s trade and investment objectives.
There are no plans at present to add Uruguay to the Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy Programme.

The UK is monitoring the impact of Cyclone Yakecan, which caused damage, power cuts and loss of life in Uruguay and southern Brazil on 17-18 May. Local authorities are currently assessing the damage.
The UK will continue to monitor the situation in Uruguay and Brazil to understand if support is needed.
