The Government remains committed to delivering a UK Green Taxonomy to support an increase in financing for activities supporting the transition to net zero and delivering on UK environmental objectives.

The Government remains committed to delivering a UK Green Taxonomy to support an increase in financing for activities supporting the transition to net zero and delivering on UK environmental objectives. We expect to consult shortly. Following the consultation, we will analyse responses and provide a government response in accordance with Cabinet Office consultation principles, with a view to finalising the Taxonomy.

The 2023 Green Finance Strategy set out the Government’s commitment to deliver a UK Green Taxonomy to support an increase in financing for activities supporting the transition to net zero and delivering on UK environmental objectives. It also announced that we expect to consult on the Taxonomy in Autumn 2023.

The 2023 Green Finance Strategy set out the Government’s commitment to deliver a UK Green Taxonomy. This will support the quality of standards, labels and disclosures used in the industry for green finance activity. We expect to consult on the Taxonomy in Autumn 2023.
Following the consultation, we will analyse responses and provide a government response in accordance with Cabinet Office consultation principles, with a view to finalising the Taxonomy.

On the point that my hon. Friend is making about unfettered access across all four nations of the UK, that is a fundamental prerequisite that we need to see in this Bill, however it is amended. Hopefully that is an objective that everybody in the Committee should be committed to.

To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what the target for the reduction of nitrogen dioxide pollutants in the air for 2019 is.
There are two statutory limits for nitrogen dioxide pollutants, an hourly mean limit value of 200 micrograms per metre cubed (μg) and an annual mean limit value of 40 μg. There are no specific targets for 2019.

Does she agree that there is therefore a greater incentive for them to get on with researching and implementing substitutes and replacements quickly, before we implement a ban?

That this House acknowledges the recent award of Best Blue Flag Beach in the UK to Portstewart, Northern Ireland; recognises that there were 11 other beaches nominated, including some of the most famous across the nation, and by a public poll the beautiful and picturesque Portstewart was voted the best by a considerable margin; and heartily congratulates the National Trust and all those Council personnel and volunteers who have worked to ensure that Northern Ireland's beaches are of such an incredibly high standard that one of its many superb coastal resorts has now merited such an accolade.

That this House notes the problem of illegal logging, estimated at between 15 per cent and 30 per cent of the international timber trade, which results in lost revenues for producer countries, environmental damage, loss of biodiversity and increased carbon emissions; further notes that the European Union's Timber Regulation (EUTR) which came into force in 2013 fails to ensure that all timber sold in Europe is of legal origin or from sustainably managed forests; further notes that WWF-UK has highlighted these issues in its current Forest Campaign, which is supported by 40 businesses and over 70,000 people; urges the Government to support changes to the EUTR which ensure full product coverage and consistent implementation across Europe to prevent unfair competition for UK business and assure consumers that all timber and wood-based products sold in the EU are legal; and calls on the Government to ensure a 100 per cent sustainable timber and wood-based product trade by 2020, as a key step in meeting the UK's commitments under the New York Declaration on Forests, including the goal of halving natural forest loss by 2020 and halting it entirely by 2030.
