To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to the Official Statistics MOD regional expenditure with industry 2024/25, what assessment he has made of the impacts of a 6% reduction in defence spending on industry in Scotland, and if he will take steps to cancel this reduction.
The Ministry of Defence does not recognise this figure of a 6% reduction in defence spending on industry in Scotland.
We recently published our Defence Investment Plan, which is backed by £298 billion of investment over the next four years. Scotland will continue to benefit from this increased investment through key programmes and infrastructure projects. These include the delivery of the Type 26 and Type 31 frigate programmes, as well as the improvements at RAF Lossiemouth and investment through Project Royal Oak for HMNB Clyde.

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to the Official Statistics MOD regional expenditure with industry 2024/25, what assessment he has made of the adequacy of expenditure per capita in Scotland.
In 2024–25, MOD spending with industry in Scotland was £2.16 billion, equivalent to £390 per person.
The MOD continues to invest significantly in Scotland through the £50 million Defence Growth Deal, the Type 26 and Type 31 frigate programmes, and the multi-billion-pound Clyde 2070 Transformation Programme.

That this House warmly welcomes the announcement that Drumchapel LIFE and Men Matter Scotland, based in Drumchapel, in Glasgow West constituency, are among 23 projects across Scotland to receive a share of a £2.2 million Self Management Fund administrated by the Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland; notes that this scheme supports people living with long-term health conditions, disabled people, and unpaid carers by helping them take control of their health and wellbeing; understands that the funding will support Drumchapel LIFE’s wellbeing programmes, which teach practical skills and promote positive physical and mental health; further understands that Men Matter Scotland will utilise the funding to develop a programme of mental health support for men experiencing mental ill health and suicidal ideation due to work pressures; recognises the importance of funding of this nature that invests in person centred care to help tackle health inequalities; commends the work of the local organisations, volunteers, and partners who helped to secure this funding and who will use it to continue to deliver for local people; and wishes both organisations every success as they continue to deliver these vital services in the community.

The Defence Industrial Strategy committed £250 million to fund all five Defence Growth Deals across the UK, and announced an £182 million Defence Industry Skills Package.
On 12 March, we launched the £50 million Scotland Defence Growth Deal, and from the £20 million of funding allocated to the Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, we committed a £10 million investment towards the creation of two Defence Technical Excellence Colleges (DTECs). This will include one in the East and one in the West of Scotland, working in consultation with Colleges Scotland to develop the colleges.
I wrote with the Secretary of State for Scotland to the Scottish Government on 12 March asking them to match fund our DTEC commitment so we can deliver two not one DTEC in Scotland. I regret to report we have received no response from the Scottish Government so far.
