That this House deplores the building by the Government of Israel of a so-called defensive wall on the West Bank which undermines the peace process by requisitioning land owned by Palestinians, separating some Palestinian communities from health care, welfare agencies, education and markets for goods or from the agricultural land on which their livelihoods depend; believes that the building of the 'separation wall', which cannot be justified on humanitarian, political or strategic grounds, contravenes Article 13 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and 12 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights in relation to freedom of movement, 43 of the Hague Convention in relation to the ability to work and earn a living, 17 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and 3 of Israel's Basic Law in relation to ownership of property; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to make the strongest possible representations to the Government of Israel for the dismantling of the wall and the restoration of these rights to the Palestinian people affected.
