To ask Her Majesty’s Government what is the forecast cost of the two inquiries they have set up in relation to accusations of inadequacies in the investigation of allegations of child abuse in North Wales.[HL3566]
The Prime Minister announced a review of Sir Ronald Waterhouse's inquiry into child abuse in care homes in North Wales following recent serious allegations about child abuse in North Wales. The seriousness of the allegations merits a thorough investigation into events at the time. Mrs Justice Macur's review will proceed with the terms of reference laid before this House on 8 November.
We do not yet have a cost forecast for either Mrs Justice Macur's review of the Waterhouse inquiry or Keith Bristow's review of historic police investigations and fresh investigations of alleged abuse.
