Mr. Loughton: To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport what representations he has received concerning London's
art market. [32918]
Mr. Chris Smith: I have received representations from the British Art Market Federation and from individuals. I am aware of the
concerns about any measures which may have an effect on the operation of the UK art trade.
The art trade makes an important contribution to the economy of this country; and the Government wishes to ensure that the UK art
market maintains its pre-eminent international position.
