That this House expresses its deep sorrow and utter indignation following the brutal assassination of Yanar Mohammed, a prominent leader in the struggle for women’s equality and human rights in Iraq on 2 March 2026 in Baghdad; notes with alarm that Yanar Mohammed, the President of the Organization of Women's Freedom in Iraq (OWFI) and a distinguished member of the Central Committee of the Communist Alternative Organization, was critically wounded in a targeted attack by two unidentified terrorists on a motorcycle in front of her residence and tragically passed away shortly after being transported to the hospital; applauds her work as a tireless advocate for equality and as a dedicated communist activist, noting that Yanar Mohammed’s life was a testament to the fight against oppression; is aware that Yanar was acknowledged as one of the world’s leading women’s rights activists campaigning for more than four decades for freedom and equality; believes her assassination is a monumental loss not only for the women's movement in Iraq but for the internationalist struggle for justice and the global working-class movement; recognises that her courage inspired activists far beyond the borders of Iraq, including those within the Iranian labour and freedom movements; strongly condemns this act of terror and calls on the Government to demand that the Iraqi government take immediate and decisive action to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, if she will have discussions with her counterpart in Pakistan about the abduction of Women in Balochistan.
The UK remains deeply concerned by reports of human rights abuses in Pakistan, including in Balochistan. Advocating for civil and political rights is a core part of the UK's diplomatic engagement with Pakistan. To that end, I raised human rights issues on several occasions with Pakistan's Interior and Human Rights Ministers and Deputy Prime Minister last year. Our High Commission in Islamabad also regularly engages on these issues with the Government of Pakistan at the highest levels, as well as supporting a variety of UK-funded programmes promoting human rights in Pakistan. We will continue to urge the Government of Pakistan to guarantee the rights of all people in Pakistan in accordance with its constitution and international standards.

Decisions on how the Official Development Assistance (ODA) budget will be used are being worked through as part of the ongoing Spending Review, based on various factors including impact assessments. Equality Impact Assessments - which consider impacts on women and girls - are an essential part of how we make decisions on ODA allocations.

That this House recognises the growing participation of women and girls in football and the need for better accessibility to appropriate footwear; notes with concern that while female football boots can be purchased online from major retailers, there is often a very restricted range and a general absence from high street stores; highlights that many high street shops do not stock football boots specifically designed for women or men's boots in sizes below size 6, making it difficult for women with smaller feet to find suitable options; acknowledges the physiological differences between male and female players and the importance of properly designed footwear to provide adequate support and performance; believes that women and girls should have the same ease of access to football boots as their male counterparts; and calls on retailers and manufacturers to improve the availability of football boots in stores to ensure all players can access appropriate footwear regardless of their size and sex.

That this House notes with deep concern the Government’s decision to reduce women’s health targets in NHS guidance, including the removal of the commitment to roll out women’s health hubs across all integrated care boards; recognises that these hubs provide vital services, including faster diagnosis for conditions such as endometriosis and osteoporosis, which disproportionately impact women’s quality of life; further notes that the Government’s own cost-benefit analysis found that every £1 spent on these hubs generates £5 in benefits; notes that waiting times for gynaecological services remain unacceptably high, with conditions like endometriosis taking an average of 8 years and 10 months to diagnose; warns that deprioritising women’s health risks worsening health inequalities; and urges the Government to reinstate the target for a nationwide rollout of women’s health hubs to ensure women receive the care they deserve.
