DWP has a full-time Jobcentre presence in both Rushden and Wellingborough town centres. DWP has no current plans to remove its Jobcentre presence. The Department will continue to review its service delivery plans and its estates in the normal course of business; and make sure that they work with partners to explore every opportunity which might be presented to reduce estate costs whilst maintaining a high standard of service.

The Department already undertakes some activities in Wellingborough at the Jobcentre Plus in West Villa Road. However, it would be impractical to relocate the rest of the Department to Wellingborough.
Since May 2010, more than 8.6 million claims for jobseeker’s allowance have ended, of which an estimated 68%—or more than 5.8 million—saw the claimant enter work.
The latest figures, covering February to April 2012, show almost 23.5 million people employed in the private sector. That is a rise of 222,000 on the previous quarter and more than 900,000 since 2010.
