There have been no involuntary or voluntary exit schemes in Essex Probation Trust in 2009-10 or subsequent years and no schemes are planned for 2012-13.
Essex Probation contributed £25,000 towards the cost of an involuntary exit scheme relating to the closure of the East of England Probation Training Consortium in 2009-10. The six probation areas in the East of England region contributed a total of £90,000.

Supplementary business question on the future of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority following its decision to sanction designer babies.
That this House expresses its gratitude to all the dedicated community health council (CHC) staff for their excellent work in representing patients prior to their closure on 1st December; condemns the lack of planning that has led to continued uncertainty over the timing of CHC closures; notes that the announcement of this change came shortly before the CHCs were due to close and that as a result many CHCs have been understaffed and under strength; expresses concern that despite Ministerial assurances given to Parliament on 6th September 2001 that there would be a pathway for CHC staff who wanted to participate in the new system, this pathway has in effect been cut off by the new regulations; and regrets the loss of expertise available to Patients' Forums due to the way in which the transfer from CHCs has been conducted.

That this House notes with concern that thousands of teachers and classroom assistants are facing redundancy due to deficits in school budgets; also notes that these deficits are caused by higher employers' national insurance contributions and the need for higher contributions to teachers' pensions and other additional costs borne by schools; is further concerned that the General Secretary of the National Association of Head Teachers believes that there will be thousands of redundancies, particularly in the south and that Bedfordshire schools, not the worst affected, are considering making 21 teachers or teaching assistants redundant; also notes that increased teacher workload has contributed to this situation and that the former head of St. Edmund's Primary School in Kings Lynn has said 'Legislation spews out of Whitehall like a demented fax machine.'; calls on the Government to ensure that increased school funding is not cancelled out by even greater cost increases paid for by schools and that teacher workloads are reduced by severely limiting the flow of Whitehall directives and removing many of their current obligations on teachers.
