Mr. Gordon Prentice: To ask the President of the Council how many people are employed by the House of Lords Appointments Commission;
how many are on fixed-term contracts; and what the annual running costs of the Commission is. [146277]
Mrs. Beckett: I understand that the Appointments Commission employs no one directly. It is supported by a small team of civil
servants, none of whom is on a fixed term contract. Its budget for running costs for 2000-01 is about £300,000.
