Mr. MacShane: To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will install close circuit television in units for patients with mental
or learning disabilities. [109675]
Mr. Hutton: The safety of both patients and staff is best protected by adequate staffing levels, appropriate training, clear
operational policies, and proper supervision and monitoring. Use of CCTV would be a matter for local decision, and in cases of
secure accommodation would be used to monitor public and secure perimeter areas.
