[holding answer 30 March 2006]: The number of clinical negligence cases closed by the NHS Litigation Authority (NHSLA) in either the financial year 1 April 2005 to 31 March 2006 or calendar year 1 January 2005 to 31 December 2005 is not yet available. The number of clinical negligence claims closed in the financial year 1 April 2004 to 31 March 2005 were 7,860 of which 3,583 had damages payments. The NHSLA does not keep records on the legal funding arrangements arranged by claimants.
