Question

To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs what the monetary value was of food and drink (a) produced and (b) imported to the UK in each year for which figures are available.

Answer

The monetary value of UK food production is measured by the gross value added (GVA) of businesses in the agri-food sector covering agriculture, manufacturing, wholesaling, retailing and non-residential catering.
