USA: Refugees

Question

To ask Her Majesty's Government what representations they are making to the government of the United States regarding refugees crossing the Texas border into the United States.

Answer

During the recent visit to the UK by President Trump, the Prime Minister made clear in her joint press conference with the President that the UK has a proud history of welcoming people who flee persecution. The Prime Minister has previously been clear that the separation of children from their parents at the US border was disturbing and wrong. President Trump has now signed an Executive Order aimed at ending the separation policy and US authorities are in the process of implementing this change.
