Liquefied Natural Gas: Imports

Question

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, what comparative assessment his Department has made of the lifecycle emissions of imported liquefied natural gas against domestically produced North Sea gas.

Answer

The North Sea Transition Authority (NSTA) published analysis in September 2025 comparing the emissions intensity of domestically produced gas with imported liquefied natural gas. This analysis is available on the NSTA’s website.
