Question
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, how he intends to distribute the £50 million Neighbourhood Policing Fund.
Answer

Mr. Denham: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how he intends to distribute the £50 million Neighbourhood Policing Fund. [190306] Ms Blears: The £50 million which launches the Neighbourhood Policing Fund will allow police forces in England and Wales to increase the number of Community Support Officers (CSOs) to 5,500 by the end of March, 2005 and will be available to forces from January 2005. Forces have made bids under the-fund and will be notified of their allocations shortly. In making distributions under the first round of funding we will consider a number of factors including current CSO numbers in each force.
