Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, how many organ parts are kept by the Defence Secondary Care Agency Unit; where they are kept; for what purpose; if informal consent was obtained in each case; and if he will make a statement. - Including figure.

Answer: Mr. Cohen: To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many organ parts are kept by the Defence Secondary Care Agency Unit; where they are kept; for what purpose; if informal consent was obtained in each case; and if he will make a statement. [149096] Dr. Moonie: The Defence Secondary Care Agency holds 26 pathological specimens in total, all of which are located at the Royal Hospital Haslar. These are being kept both in case further investigation is required into the cause of death and for medical research purposes. Formal consent was obtained in each case.
