Question: To ask the Secretary of State for International Development, what assessment she has made of the impact of President Bush's reinstatement of restrictions on US international family planning aid.

Answer: Dr. Tonge: To ask the Secretary of State for International Development what assessment she has made of the impact of President Bush's reinstatement of restrictions on US international family planning aid. [149613] Mr. Mullin: The implications of the decision by the new US Administration to block funding to international non-governmental organisations that offer abortion and abortion counselling will become clearer over the coming weeks as guidance is issued from USAID. The Administration's decision is a matter for the US Government; it will make no difference to the commitment of this Government to help poor people access good quality family planning and reproductive health services.
