Eggs: Origin Marking

- To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs what steps her Department is taking to ensure full traceability of egg products.

On inspection, enforcement authorities look for evidence that food business operators are keeping appropriate traceability records as required by European food law. Major retailers, processors, food manufacturers and food service companies have put into place stringent traceability tests to ensure that they do not source eggs or egg products from laying hens kept in conventional cages. We encourage others to join them.
