Written question asked by Baroness Masham of Ilton (Crossbench), in the House of Lords. It was answered by Lord Darzi of Denham (Labour) on Wednesday, 24 June 2009.

Health: Skin

Question
To ask Her Majesty's Government what training in the diagnosis of skin diseases is available to (a) general practitioners, (b) nurses, and (c) other medical staff.
Answer

It is the responsibility of employers, in co-operation with their staff, to ensure all professions are trained to the appropriate standard, including the diagnosis of skin conditions. Courses external to the employers' organisations are available and organisations will provide training internally. The department does not keep a record of all training available.
