Digital Hearing Aids

- To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many patients were awaiting the supply of new digital hearing aids in each of the health and social services board areas on the last date for which figures are available.

Information is currently available in respect of the northern and southern health and social services boards only. At 30 September 2005, there were 272 people in the northern health and social services board area, and 1,437 people in the southern health and social services board area, who were waiting for a digital hearing aid to be fitted.Information is not currently available in respect of the eastern and western health and social services boards. I will write to the hon. Member with the relevant information as soon as it is available and place a copy in the Library.
