National Training Programme

Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Skills how the national training programme, referred to on page 10 of the White Paper, ““Higher Standards, Better Schools for All””, will be funded.

Answer: Through our existing National Strategies Programme, we will be delivering a national training programme free of charge to schools, to train leading professionals to help develop personalised learning in schools.In addition, we will be investing £565 million by 2007–08 to support personalisation in primary and secondary schools and a further £60 million in each of the next two years to provide effective one-to-one and small group tuition for the lowest attaining pupils in targeted schools.
