Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Margaret Ferrier (Scottish National Party), on Monday, 22 February 2016, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 23 members in total.
SOUTH LANARKSHIRE SCHOOL BUS CAMPAIGN
That this House congratulates people across the South Lanarkshire Council area who campaigned to prevent the withdrawal of school bus services for some pupils; recognises that concerted and consistent pressure from campaigners has led to the reversal of the plans by the local authority; agrees that school bus transport entitlement should meet local need, not just the bare minimum legal requirements; acknowledges that the proposals to change entitlement to school transport were unworkable due to safety concerns not being addressed, and should not have been passed by the local authority in the first place; and calls on South Lanarkshire Council to prioritise safety when making future decisions.
